Type 1 Diabetes

Joey, The ADA, and Accolades for his service.

Joey was nominated for the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship program by Lidia at the American Diabetes Association of WI. We are so happy for him, and proud of him .  And we are very grateful for the nomination from Lidia.  Joey loved his two year reign as the Youth Ambassador for the ADA.  He grew so much from all of the experiences.

Joey was 12 when he started as the youth ambassador and now he’s almost 14, time goes by so quickly that I fear that I’m going to blink and he’s gonna be leaving for college.

We would like for Joey to continue his diabetes advocacy, as he really did reach a lot of kids that needed that little bit of encouragement to know that it’s okay to be a little different. I think Joey’s main message was that if your friends don’t like you because you have type one diabetes, then they weren’t really friends to begin with.

So for now we are on to our next venture to advocate diabetes awareness,  we’re not sure where that road will lead us but I’m sure you’ll be hearing from us soon!
