Twelve year old Joey Balistrieri of New Berlin, and seven year old Cooper Wintheiser of Milwaukee, have been chosen to represent the state of Wisconsin as the 2013 Youth Ambassador’s for the American Diabetes Association. Joey and Cooper are related, Joey is Cooper’s uncle.
Cooper was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in October, 2006, at age 22 months. Joey was diagnosed in May, 2009 at the age of 8 years old. Both have been very active in raising awareness for Type 1 Diabetes.
They are both very excited to share their stories and experiences with children and adults alike. They will represent the ADA at the State Capitol on April 24th, at the Diabetes Day at the Capitol.
Also, as part of their Ambassador responsibilities, Joey and Cooper will share their diabetes stories with the riders at the Tour de Cure, which is the ride for diabetes held in June, they will be at the Step Out event, which is the walk in October, and they will appear at the Gala events.
Please support Joey and Cooper as they step into their new roles, as role models for the American Diabetes Association, and Community.
Thank you for your support.
